When anxiety builds, slowing your breath can help your body feel safer. Try breathing in for a count of four, holding for four, and breathing out for six. Repeat for a minute or two, letting each out-breath be a little longer than the in-breath. If it helps, place a hand on your chest and notice the gentle rise and fall.
